Sibling support – or preparing older kids for a baby – is an important piece of your postpartum experience. With a new baby at home, it’s common to feel stretched thin and unsure of how to take good care of your baby, yourself, and your other kiddos, especially on limited sleep. You want to create harmony, peace, and joy in your home as you all adjust to having a new baby. And you want your other kids to feel included, but aren’t sure how to do it all.
Common issues around sibling transitions may include, but aren’t limited to:
-
Jealousy of your shift in attention to your new baby
-
Desires to be held and carried when you are physically still recovering
-
Struggles to keep your older child’s routines as you care for the new baby
-
The older child wanting to help a little too much too soon
-
Recognizing regression as an emotional response to your new baby
How Mama Bear Doulas Will Help
That’s why Mama Bear Doula Care offers an add-on service of sibling support. Before your baby’s arrival, your doula will educate you about what to expect during this transitional period and will be at your home with your older child (baby’s sibling) to prepare meals for the child, do activities with the child, and help with his or her bedtime routine. She will also help you identify signs of emotional distress and help you navigate those more gracefully.
This add-on service is booked in 12-hour increments at $50/hr.
For example, $600 for the first 12 hours and $1,200 for 24 hours.
